Get "Illegal characters in path" on put

Sep 8, 2010 at 7:59 AM

When I'm executing this command

D:\>c:\s3.exe put XXXX-code/Test "C:\Builds\1\Main Test Deployment Build\Binaries\Release\" /sub

I get this error

s3.exe version 1.7 - check for updates at

Illegal characters in path.

I assume that it is because of the spaces in the source path or the hyphens around it...?

Thanks in advance!

Hi again,

Just found a workaround after having debugged the code. The problem is that Windows does not parse the hyphens properly if the enclosed text ends with a backslash as I did in my example. So I changed that to a forward slash and also added the missing forward slash at the end of the bucket:

D:\>c:\s3.exe put XXXX-code/Test/ "C:\Builds\1\Main Test Deployment Build\Binaries\Release/" /sub

And then it works nicely :-)

Open source in action!  Lovely.  (Any chance of a patch?)

It seems that the root problem is the way Windows parses the arguments into the string array it pass on the s3 application. So I guess there is no easy fix, this is probably just a "feature".
