Mime Type/File Type Issues when Uploading html Files

Dec 18, 2009 at 5:17 AM

When I upload an .html file with s3.exe to S3, it cannot be opened in most browsers any more afterwards. It is now identified as a binary file, and Firefox offers to save it locally instead of displaying the html page directly. Only IE still opens it correctly. Besides Firefox I also know that Safari and Chrome have a problem with the file.

I don't experience that problem when I upload exactly the same file with S3 Organizer. In that case it is correctly displayed by any browser.

In some feature request I read that it might be related to s3.exe not setting a Mime type when uploading files.

I think it would be crucial to either solve the issue or document it clearly.
It prevented quite a number of people from accessing a page that I had uploaded with s3.exe until I finally realized the cause.

Otherwise, thanks for the useful program.

Thanks for raising this, whiterock.  I'll get it fixed for you asap, maybe this weekend.

Cheers,
